At around 5:30 am on 04/25/20 deputies responded to a location within Bay Lakes where they located a burglary to a vehicle. Over the next few hours deputies continued to investigate other vehicle burglaries in addition to residential (garages) burglaries moving in a northerly and westerly direction into Coral Shores and eventually Mt. Vernon.
The method of the burglaries remained the same and little to nothing was taken. While concluding the last investigation in Mt. Vernon a citizen called to report that they saw two black male juveniles sitting on the porch of a residence they know to be unoccupied. As deputies arrived and made contact with the males one followed commands and the second fled on foot. The detained suspect (Ziion J Lobban) was armed with a handgun and advised his partner was as well.
The other suspect (Taivon J Saunders) was seen jumping into the canal and swimming to the east where he exited the water onto another road within Coral Shores. Eventually the suspect entered another canal and was apprehended shortly after he was found hiding under a dock. A search of the second suspect’s path revealed a second handgun and ammunition. Deputies also discovered a stolen vehicle parked at a residence where the initial foot chase took place.
Ziion Lobban (correct spelling) and Taivon Saunders are both charged with multiple counts of armed burglary to conveyance, grand theft auto, and armed burglary to occupied dwelling. Additional charges are possible.
